The location and appearance of the Public Safety Building at Frostburg State University are critical to aligning perceptions with the emphasis that public safety plays on campus. Working with Design Collective, the University is going to design the new Public Safety Building as a gateway between the campus and the town of Frostburg. As a new “front door” to the campus, the building will be architecturally distinct, positioned to greet students and visitors to the campus and speak to the emphasis that the University places on safety and security. The new 10,000 square foot facility will be a single-story brick building will contain administrative, public meeting and waiting spaces, a campus police communications and operations center, holding cells and a variety of support functions including specialized storage, locker rooms, a fitness center and break room. The building is targeting LEED Gold certification.
