John F. Corkill, III

John F. Corkill, III has been promoted to Principal and a leader in the firm’s quality assurance and quality control group. As a licensed architect with over 40 years of experience, he is a highly effective architect that is skilled in all facets of the building process and has been involved in a diverse range of projects.

“John’s passion for balancing design with technical excellence is ingrained in his daily mission to ensure all architects are provided the necessary mentoring, education, and opportunities to learn and excel as architects” said Design Collective president, Fred Marino. 

John’s work has won multiple architecture and design awards, for projects such as the University of Maryland Baltimore Health Science Facility III and the historic preservation and adaptive re-use of Inmar’s Corporate Headquarters in Winston-Salem, NC which also achieved LEED Platinum certification along with numerous other projects. He is currently working on a major renovation of the B&O Railroad Museum in Baltimore, MD, including the adaptive reuse of its historic South Car passenger repair shop. 

John states “I take personal pride in our firm’s commitment to ensuring that our emerging design professionals provide accurate documentation and minimize risk for our client’s benefit, and to see their projects built successfully.”

Previously John worked as a Project Architect at Wheeler Goodman Masek (WGM) and Corkill Cush Associates. John has been with Design Collective since 2000 and received his Master of Science in Architecture from the Catholic University of America.

Scott Geczi

Scott Geczi has been promoted to Principal and is a leader in the mixed-use residential studio. An architect with over 25 years of experience, he has been an integral team member on many of the firm’s mixed-use residential projects. His expertise in managing and designing complex, urban high-rise, concrete podium and wood-frame construction projects has made him one of the firm’s in-house experts.

Chief Operating Officer, Mike Goodwin added “Having worked with Scott since 2001, I’ve seen Scott consistently lead our teams from Concept Design through construction, balancing design excellence with technical proficiency.  His strong organizational and client management skills make him highly sought after by our legacy clients.  We simply wouldn’t be the same firm without him.”

Scott has been with Design Collective for 21 years. Some of his noteworthy projects include the award-winning 1213 Walnut, a high-rise residential tower for Hines/Goldenberg Group/ASB Real Estate in Philadelphia, PA, and the recently completed and award-winning Aster for the Bozzuto Group in College Park, Maryland.

Following his promotion, Scott said “How fortunate am I to be working with teams of such talented and dedicated people to create amazing spaces and places. I believe good design has the power to transform, yet the most successful projects feel like they have always been there.”

Previously Scott worked as an Associate at Hord Coplan Macht and an architect at BCT Architects. He is a licensed architect and holds a Bachelor of Architecture from Virginia Tech.
