This year’s Multifamily Executive Awards in October attracted more than 600 people bringing together leading executives from across the country to discuss opportunities and challenges in the current economy. Judges selected the winners from more than 200 entries during a day-long judging process in Washington, DC . The Fitzgerald, an impressive and transformative mid-rise project in the heart of Baltimore, received the coveted “Editor’s Choice” award. Design Collective worked with developer, Bozzuto Development Company, on this project that Bozzuto believes will redefine the future of multi-family housing. Design Collective was also recognized with another Grand Award for the design of South Campus Commons Building 7 at the University of Maryland College Park. Working with Capstone Development, the firm designed a LEED Gold certified residence hall that fits in perfectly with the massing and scale of the existing campus utlizing compact building footprints, rooflines, architectural details, and consistency of materials, such as molded brick. The project also broke new ground for public/private partnerships, gaining significant cost efficiencies over traditional development methods.
